I want to build SmartBody in Android. I have read the manual but I still have some doubts. Should I download the entire repository and build some certain part of it? Is sbjniapp the closest android app to sbgui?

If you want to build the android version, you should:

1) Get the latest version from the trunk in the repository (

2) Download the Android NDK, set up the NDK_ROOT to be the location of the the NDK

3) go to the android/sbjni folder

That should build the sbjniapp, which is a simple implementation of SmartBody on Android.

The sbgui application is a set up dialogs, windows and user interface controls to simulated and visualize SmartBody. There isn't an equivalent for that on Android (or iOS) since the widget interface does not translate to mobile devices. The sbjniapp will give you a 3D world view and display the characters, but won't, for example, give you a text box to type in commands, click interfaces to select characters, etc.
