Hi

I'm not familiar with locomotion, so my questions can be naive 😉

As I understand, creating a new locomotion is a time-consuming process/work. Can locomotions created in other apps can be imported to use in SB? If so what are input files formats/extensions?

Also: for example, user grabs, say, 10 new motions from web (like idle, walk, run etc). What should he do next to get a new locomotion behavior? Is there a some "template" to create a new behavior fast and then improve/polish it in editor?

Thx

You need to create a set of blends from the basic animations. To do this, you have to mark points along the motion that are similar (say, the timing of the foot plants for each motion). The SmartBody locomotion system relies on having blends with particular names (xxxLocotion, xxxStep and so forth). So, yes, you can use any set of motions that you like, but you can't get around the issue of finding the correspondences between the motions.

So the steps would be:

1) create a blend called 'myLocomotion'

2) add your animations to them

3) use the blend editor to mark the correspondances.

4) make sure the steer agent uses the prefix 'my'
