I can scan using the kinect 1 unit but where do I go from there to get the output from the kinect unit and Fastavatarcapture into the smartbody software. I cannot really find any guides on this.

Any advive welcome - we are a small school trying to introduce these technologies for our students.

Thanks

You should be able to drag and drop the .obj or .ply file into SmartBody, orient the character so that the chest is facing forward and head up, and the open the Retarget Viewer, autorig the model, then transfer a set of behaviors. See this video:

Alternatively, you could download the Autorigger and Reshaper here:

http://smartbody.ict.usc.edu/a.....ndreshaper

export  a .dae, then import that into SmartBody (the autorigger and reshaper tool does a better job of rigging than does SmartBody).

Hi, thanks for this. I can't download the pdf from the site on using smart shape. Is there a document with screen shots of the menu system showing how to use the various menu functions or do I need to run everything through python?

My students start at 13

years old and so python interface at this age is not really an option. They would use the menu system if available.

Thanks

Are you referring to the documentation? It should download here: http://smartbody.ict.usc.edu/H.....Manual.pdf

You can do a fair amount through the GUI interface and without Python coding, but you'll have to explore the manual a bit to figure that out.
